Cypress 8 is a lakefront house where the materials do the heavy lifting. Knotted cedar, blackened iron, and quiet neutral textiles carry the house from room to room.
The dining room sets the tone. Exposed wood beams, an iron chandelier as long as the table, and walls of glass that pull the lake into the room at every meal. From there the house softens. A primary suite cooled by the light off the water, a study built around a single oversized window, and rooms whose details only show up on a second look.
The work here was about holding back. Less furniture, fewer finishes, more breathing room. The house ends up feeling older than it is. Settled, weighty, and ready for whatever Texas weather throws at it.
