Stone & Story is the interior design studio of Sterling Creek Homes.
We began as the in-house design arm for Sterling Creek, so the homes they were already building could be finished as carefully as they were framed. The studio grew from there. We now work with Sterling Creek clients, with other builders, and with anyone in the Hill Country who wants a home that feels right to live in.
We stay small on purpose. It means we can know each house, the way the light moves and the way the rooms connect, instead of treating it as a job to push through.
Rachel runs design at Stone & Story. She handles the whole job: interior selections, furnishings, textiles, and the small finishing touches. Her approach is simple. Listen first, then draw.
She works with clients through every step of a build, from the first finish decisions through the last cushion out of its wrapping. When she’s not at the showroom, she’s usually in a new build somewhere in the Hill Country, checking how the light lands in the rooms she’s designing.

The finishes, the furniture, the textures. All of it should fit the people living inside, so we ask a lot of questions before we start drawing.
A home should welcome you, not show off. We aim for rooms that are nice to look at and easy to live in.
Pick the tile, the wallpaper, and the sofa fabric in the same conversation, and the house ends up sounding like one voice instead of a committee.
